Now for those of you who came out, it was kind of hard to miss the video aspect of this race.  Ultimately, we’ll be combing through the MASSIVE amount of footage we’ve collected for a film showcasing the characters of DC cycling, to premier August 4 at the Washington DC leg of the Bicycle Film Festival

This is the map. Learn it. Ride it. Fuck, sleep with it under your pillow for all I care; just know it well. But also know there will be a Helmet Cam Video of yours truly riding the route to make sure you get a proper preview of the course. Its brutal, but doable. There are parts of this race that will draw a lot of attention, and have the potential to be SERIOUSLY dangerous. As such, we’ll run two heats of racers: 1)Those who elect to ride through every checkpoint or obstacle, and 2)Those who dont. YOU decide to HTFU or not. “Checkpoint” workers will be directing loudly, and closely watching who goes through the various obstacles and who does not, they’ll be the arbiters of what heat you FINISH in. Plus, we got lots of video rigged up for this, be honest. Course Details 1. Begin @ Red Derby - 14th and Quincy, NW 2. Start South on 14th street crossing over and continue South on 13th BEFORE the 13th st. hill that crosses Florida ave. 3. Bomb 13th st. hill, crossing Florida, and continue South through Logan Circle to K st 4. Enter Franklin Sq. Park on the 13th and K corner, ride through the park to exit at the 14th and EYE corner. All routes THROUGH the park are game 5. Continue South on 14th all the way to Constitution Ave. 6. Take 15th to Ohio to enter Hains Point 7. Ride into the Hains Point Loop. ***Beware of park police @ the stop signs (it will be a Sunday…)*** 8. Follow the Hains Pt. Loop to the tip of the island. Riders will then hop the curb onto the grass and ride to touch the rail. There will be a set of 2 barriers set up that riders will cross once on the way to touch the tip, and once on the way back into the loop. 9. Complete the loop and get on the 14th St. Bridge 10. Cross the 14th St. Bridge onto the Mt. Vernon Trail headed west. 11. Follow the MVT until you begin to see Checkpoint workers directing riders off the trail. Riders will cross both the GW pkwy and the off-ramp for the Arlington Mem Bridge (see map) to ride up a section of single-track and cross the street perpendicular to the bridge, continuing onto the grass and matching single-track on the other side of the bridge.Riders will cross the on-ramp and the GW pkwy once again on the other side of the bridge, continuing on the Mount Vernon Trail West 12. Follow the trail onto the wooden bridge, through the parking lot and up to the Key Bridge. 13. Cross the Key Bridge and take a left on M followed by an IMMEDIATE right to climb the 35th st cobbles. 14. Take a left onto N st, and go back down the exorcist steps and back onto M st traveling East 15. Riders follow Pennsylvania Ave and pass through the white house plaza onto New York Ave. 16. Riders Must pass under the Gallery Place Gate on H st. before finishing at DURKL - 443 EYE st.
